In-person Interpretation

Conditions of Service

  • ConnectHear requires a specific date, time, location, and pertinent information regarding the nature and content of the booking prior to the requested date.

  • Interpreters reserve the right to remove themselves from an assignment where their safety is compromised, or the assignment does not match their commitment to ConnectHear.

  • Two Interpreters must be booked for assignments that are longer than two hours or for all assignments that will be lecture/presentation style unless special circumstances are arranged prior to booking.

  • Interpreters will never consult or advise individuals involved unless it is specifically to improve the interpretation process.

  • All interpretation will be done for the sole purpose of assisting in correspondence where some need is demonstrated. No private/personal communication will be done on the behalf of the user unless it affects their safety or security.

Cancellation

  • ConnectHear requires 48 hours (2 business days) notice if an assignment of three hours or less is cancelled. 

  • ConnectHear requires five business days notice for assignments that are 4 hours or greater than in length. Failing to do so will result in billing for the full amount of service booked.

Service provided

All Interpreters booked through ConnectHear are:

  • Active members of the ConnectHear Sign Language Interpreters’ team.

  • All information regarding a booked assignment will be kept strictly confidential. If an interpreter compromises on confidentiality, they will be immediately removed from ConnectHear’s network.

  • Interpreters will provide service without judgment, bias, or opinion.

Payment

  • Payment of 50% will have to be done before the interpretation session. 

  • Payment must be honoured within 30 days of invoice date unless otherwise mentioned on the invoice. Failing to do so will result in a late payment penalty of 10% per month.

  • Payments can be submitted by cheque made payable to ConnectHear, or e-transfer to our bank account.

Video-based Interpretation

Conditions of Service

  • ConnectHear requires a specific date, time, prefered call medium and pertinent information regarding the nature and content of the booking prior to the requested date.

  • Good internet connectivity and audio system is required for a meeting based session.

  • Interpreters reserve the right to remove themselves from an assignment where their safety is compromised, or the assignment does not match their commitment to ConnectHear.

  • Interpreters will never consult or advise individuals involved unless it is specifically to improve the interpretation process.

  • All interpretation will be done for the sole purpose of assisting in correspondence where some need is demonstrated. No private/personal communication will be done on the behalf of the user unless it affects their safety or security.
